There is a piece of good news in my inbox!

Sooo....I have got my first offer of a place for my Graduate Diploma in Law course!!
Whoop! Whoop!! It is a conditional offer, of course, but it is still good news and I am pretty
excited about it! I got it from Aston university, which is in Birmingham...I am still waiting to
hear from the others though. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, I have to be working
towards getting my degree, or else all this will just be a waste...which is a no-no,
considering the time I have spent in uni and all the money that has been paid-especially as
an international student.

Having said that, *clears throat*. I am going to Winter Wonderland this Sunday. Lool...I feel
really guilty because I have essays to submit; but it is one of my closest friend’s birthday
and that is all she is asking of me...plus I have always wanted to go to Winter Wonderland.
As such, I will be working extra time to get most of the work completed, so that I only feel
half guilty. :D Hehe.

Most of my friends have left or are leaving to Ghana for Christmas again, which makes me
really jealous, as I haven’t been back there since I entered uni in 2010. I have high hopes
that I will be there next year though-I miss the food and heat. I do have a couple of friends
staying behind and we plan to not stay indoors and have a boring Christmas, just because
it is cold outside...so far, I have a Christmas ball (what to wear?!) on the day I submit my
last coursework for the semester and dinner with friends on another day. I will also be with
my big brother and his family in Birmingham on Christmas day...and then off to Essex to
see my cousins for a couple of days. It should be fun.

Hope everyone gets to finish all their work on time so that we can all have a lovely
holiday!!

Until my next post...

Hello December!

It is December!! That means Christmas is near and the end of semester is fast
approaching. Whoohoo!! That also means that there are a thousand and one deadlines
waiting for me before I go on Christmas break. :(

I honestly cannot wait for this semester to be over so that I can catch a little break. It is like
the more I do my work, the more it piles up; and the fact that I am always sleepy does not
help matters. I am confident, though, that I will survive. *In dramatic movie voice*

Anyway, after all the stress last month, I finally found a place which is much better suited
to my needs and I have moved. It is about a 20 minutes bus journey to uni, which is good
and I only have to share the apartment with one person. This means less drama and less
noise-and this is exactly what I need at this point in my life. I also completed my personal
statement and application for the Graduate Diploma in Law and I have contacted my
referee; so that has been sorted. The only thing I am left to do is finish my coursework and
plan for Christmas; because I intend to have fun this Christmas. *dancing*

Oh...guess what happened to me last week! I dislocated my knee. It was so random! I was
sitting crossed legged on my bed eating some crisps when my knee cap just popped out
and I had to push it back. *shudder* I have been traumatised since then; but I have been
putting off a GP’s appointment till now...I really should go and see my GP...anyway, the
pain has greatly reduced now and I am not limping anymore, so I guess I am fine.Lol.

Wishing all those who have exams this month the best of luck and to the rest of us who
have coursework, keep going hard! It will all be over (and worth it) soon!

Byeee for now!!

Reading Week

It is such a relief that I have got reading week this week! The work was piling up too quickly and I was not too sure if I could keep up.  * wipes sweat *

So this week is meant for catching up on readings, seminar preparation work and starting assessments; and any wise person would make good use of it. I am currently out of London (at an unknown location :p) and I am loving it.  I have some peace and quiet away from friends and all the hustle and bustle of London to concentrate on what I have to do…and I am also enjoying the change in environment.

Halloween is here and unfortunately I have not made any plans to celebrate it; however, from what I have been seeing around, it looks like people are not taking it easy at all and are really enjoying themselves!! I am jealous!! Lol. Here is a picture from last year’s Halloween with friends though. It is a bit weird that the date is in the future…Oh; and that is me on the far left. I honestly do not know what I was supposed to be…I guess I was some kind of female monster…lol

Anyway, I have been thinking a lot about what I will be doing with my life after uni next year (apart from the GDL) and I think I would like to divert a little bit and do a couple of things that I have had an interest in over a long period of time…such as interior decoration. I know this is so different from Law and a lot of people have been questioning me about it; but I would like to do something totally different (and well, a bit more interesting) on the side. I am not giving up on Law though! I am just trying to add a little variety to my life. Hehe…so we will see how that goes.
I hope everyone else is having a fun-filled and scary Halloween! Looking forward to seeing the pics!

Stressed and dreading winter!

I have been so stressed these past couple of weeks! There has been a lot of work to do, in terms of uni and I am finding it a challenge to wrap my head around some topics; and to top it off, my housemates suddenly want to move out and so I am under pressure to find another place to rent in the next month...just the thing I was trying to avoid-Last minute pressure. So now I’ve got pages open on my laptop advertising places to rent and other pages with assignments waiting for me to do...Sometimes I am not sure if I can keep up with it all. *sigh*

Well, at least I am improving on my time management. Third year is not a joke. Lol!
It is getting cold again (I am DREADING winter!)...the scarves and boots are coming out again; and it has become a struggle to get out of bed for my early Thursday morning lectures and Sunday church...hehe but I have still got that 1st class or 2:1 on my mind.
I have also finally decided on my three choices for my GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law) - University of Birmingham, Aston University and Nottingham Law School. I chose institutions outside London because London is just too expensive, compared to other places so I figured I would save a bit of money...so hopefully, I do well this year and get into one of these Universities.
So far, nothing too exciting is happening or has happened; however I am actually looking forward to meeting new people when I move to whichever new place I find...and I will keep you updated on that.
I’m off to decide on whether to write my GDL personal statement first or do my Company Law seminar work.
Toodles!

Third Year

Hi there! I am finally back in uni for my third year (actually, I have been back for about a week now) and I am pumped for this year. I have got a 1st class or at least a 2:1 on my mind and so I’m going to put in everything I have got to achieve this...

This academic year started with a few hiccups for us combined students as it seemed we were left out of a lot of things going on...however, this has been sorted now and hopefully, everything will run smoothly till the end... It has also been great seeing my course mates again after the long summer holidays J. At the moment, I am quite busy with a couple of things apart from my current uni work. I am planning to do my GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law) next year (this is for non-law students who want to get a Law degree...since I am doing a combined course of Law and Business, I do not get a full Law degree) and so I have started trying to find some colleges/universities that would best suit me. Also, I have started looking for yet another place to rent (yes, AGAIN)....but this is for February next year when my current rent contract ends...I just decided to start the search early to avoid last minute stress.

Apart from these, nothing really exciting is happening at the moment, as I am trying get everything sorted out in time. Hopefully all my plans will fall through.

I hope all the new and continuing students are settling in well and remember there are always people to help if any difficulties arise.

Till the next post, it is bye for now!

Almost time to start!

Hello there! We are finally in September and guess what that means? The new university year begins!!

It is pretty exciting especially for new students coming from college, who do not really know what to expect (or who may have great expectations) and that is a good attitude to keep because with that, you are sure to be more involved with your lectures/seminars and other things happening around the university. For me, I am a little bit frightened. THIRD YEAR! I am finally here and the fact that I will be graduating (Amen) in a few more months scares me, because the pressure of succeeding will be greatly increased. Dum-Dum-Dummm…

For the new students, here are a few things you need to know:

  • There are two parts to registration; Part one is done online and Part two is done in the university’s student centre. You need to complete Part one of registration before you can move on to Part two.
  • If you are looking to stay on campus, you should have applied for accommodation by now or in the process of applying. If not, you can contact the Accommodation offices on 02083319664 (Avery Hill), 02083319063 (Medway) and on 02083318884 (Greenwich) to find out if there are still spaces and which steps to take next.
  • Make sure you attend all meetings during induction and introductory lectures (especially international students), as a lot of vital information is given during those times.
  • We have got bookshops on all our campuses which have the recommended textbooks available for your course…if not there’s amazon and ebay ;)
  • Feel free to take part in Fresher’s week and the parties and events that will be held, as that is one of the easiest ways to make friends.
  • Be ready to go broke every now and then, but with good planning and our Jobshop, it should not be too bad. ;)
  • Finally, do not be frightened/panicked about coming to university. There are more than enough people around who are willing to help you have a wonderful university experience J

…And for those still looking to come into university this year, it is a bit late BUT we are still taking applications for some courses. Try to call us as soon as possible on 02083319000 to find out if you can still get a place for this year.

Good Luck everyone!

Randoms…and Clearing

I just realised I never gave an update on the end of year examinations I wrote in May. Well, I passed. J I do not sound too enthused about it because I did not get the grades I was hoping for in Law (Business was really good though)…I knew I was having a hard time with Law but with the effort I put into the studies, I was hoping for a more decent grade...ah well, at least it has inspired me to work a lot harder in my third year, using WILL.I.AM’s slogan; “You can go hard or you can go home”. ;)

Moving on, the BBQ my friends and I had was great! The weather was lovely, a lot of friends I had not seen in ages came over, and there was SO MUCH FOOD -too much food even; we had to take some home for the next week (good news for my housemates and I lol)…In short I had a lot of fun.

I also got to see The Dark Knight Rises on the day it came out, which I loved. The picture below shows my favourite scene…I do not want to say too much about it in case some people have not yet watched it…hehe

The next movie in line for me is TED. :D After reading Godplayer (Robin Cook) and City of Bones (Cassandra Clare), I went back to continue Fifty Shades Darker K I know, I know….but I just don’t like leaving books unfinished. Well I have finished that and I am now on Fifty Shades Freed…I am still rolling my eyes at the excessive explicit content *cough*; but at least there is a new twist to the story, which I like…so I guess that is good (y).

Finally, yes I am still working at the Enquiry unit and yes we are in Clearing. I would advise that you read the Clearing blogs which are frequently updated here: http://greenwich-clearing2012.blogspot.co.uk/ and call us on 0208 331 9000 so that you keep yourself informed on what is happening and what to do about any situation that you may have.

Until the next post, it is bye for now. J
